The Trimble GEDO systems for measuring railway lines capture the absolute track position, cant (superelevation), and track gauge. Measurements are taken continuously during the trolley movement. Points with specific coding information can be registered along the way. The track recording meets the high requirements for precision and productivity. The measurements are carried out without reference to the track design alignment and serve as a planning basis for track reconstruction and expansion, or as a basis for acceptance after track reconstruction or new track construction.
Trimble GEDO systems can be used to record data from a wide variety of tracks, including main lines, siding tracks and connecting tracks, as well as tramways and underground railways. Tracks in industrial areas and factory railways can also be recorded.
The track surveying can be performed with different Trimble GEDO system configurations. The classic geodetic survey with a mechanical track measurement bar and total station is performed with Trimble Access Track Gauge Survey field software. The geodetic Trimble GEDO Rec system with total station or GNSS is used in combination with the electronic track measurement bar or track measurement trolley. The Trimble GEDO IMS system uses inertial measurement technology for high-productivity track recording.
The Trimble Access Track Gauge Survey application is used for geodetic track surveying tasks with a Trimble total station and a mechanical track measurement bar.
When used with a Trimble S-Series total station, the mechanical track measurement bar can be used to measure the track with millimeter accuracy at the desired positions. This system solution is particularly suitable for smaller projects with only a few track locations to be measured.
The Trimble GEDO Rec system is used for geodetic track surveying. It consists of the Trimble GEDO CE 2.0 track measurement trolley or the electronic Trimble GEDO Track Bar with a Trimble control unit in combination with a Trimble total station or Trimble GNSS receiver. The electronic Trimble GEDO Track Bar can be used for smaller projects and a small number of track positions to be measured.
When used with a Trimble S-Series total station, the Trimble GEDO track measurement trolley can measure up to 600 m of track (or 1,200 m with two total stations) per hour with millimeter accuracy. When used with a Trimble GNSS receiver, 3,000 m per hour can be measured with centimeter accuracy.
The Trimble GEDO IMS system consists of the Trimble GEDO CE 2.0 track measurement trolley, a Trimble GEDO IMU and a Trimble control unit. A Trimble GEDO Profiler or Trimble total station is part of the system as well.
The GEDO IMS system uses the most modern inertial measuring technology. The combination with an electro-optical laser measuring unit enables track recording with very high accuracy and a productivity of over 2,500 m and up to 5,000 m per hour.
